WYCLEF JEAN'S FILM CITY LANDMARK IN JOS PLATEAU STATE



Nel Ust Jean, internationally known as Wyclef Jean and Fugees star, best known for long been active in raising money for his homeland through his YĆ©le Haiti Foundation and has led appeals for international aid in diaspora will be coming to Jos in Plateau state, Nigeria West Africa. The international artiste has signed a partnership with the Plateau state government aimed at establishing a technology and infrastructure hub in the heart of the Jos-capital tourist city spanning over 4000 hectares of land within the state.


Wyclef Jean's scheduled visit to Jos to participate in the Incredible Music Festival Starting DECEMBER 31ST 2023 TO 1ST JANUARY 2024 hosted by the renowned Nigerian rapper, Jude "MI" Abaga, (who serves as an honorary adviser on entertainment and creativity to the Plateau state government) is working with Wyclef Jean in the implementation of this project.

The project will feature a music and movie studio, that will serve as a creative incubator that will provide emerging talentwith access to world-class equipment and facilities. "These sorts of synergies will naturally provide a platform for scaling up and exposing the young talents on the Plateau towards sharing their gifts with the world," says Caleb Muftwang, the governor of Plateau state.

MI JUDE ABAGA, AKA "THE GUY" HAS THIS TO SAY ABOUT THE CONCERT AND FOUNDATION LAYING OF THE FILM CITY: "The Incredible Music Festival has a mission to unite and empower creatives from all over Nigeria, providing them with opportunities to make a positive impact on society and achieve lasting growth. 

However, we believe that it's essential to start with our immediate community first. That's why we're inviting everyone to the table, starting with those from our childhood years. 

We believe that everyone has a role to play in creating change, and we welcome you to join us. At the festival, you'll have the chance to network, learn, grow, and partner with like-minded individuals."

Wyclef Jean's initiative will ride on the wave of existing efforts of local players within the nollywood and music sphere to monetise and distribute digital content in Plateau state and other parts of Northern Nigeria.


As a representative of Nollywood, Ambasador Hoomsuk Alex Jibrin, the coordinator for the Nollywood Artistes Association of Nigeria in the 19 states of the North and also 2008 Amstel Maltas "White Waters" African Movie Academy Award Winner from Jos Plateau State stated categorically that the landmark film city will give talent incubation platforms that have been nurturing creatives and putting Plateau state on the world map for years the necessary boost to steer their efforts towards content monetisation and artistic development that will provide the content creators from this part of the country with the necessary know-how and  skillset to compete globally and effortlessly for the culture.


In Ambassador Hoomsuk's words: "The  film city will be empowering a generation of exceptional creatives from this part of the country and also advance plateau state and Nigeria in general through film, media and technology innovation"

In 2020, Wyclef Jean's Carnival World Music Group raised $25 million in capital funding to invest in music publishing and production in parts of Africa, the Caribbean, and other underserved markets and in 2023, Plateau State takes the center stage.
